Occupational Therapy
What methods are used in Occupational Therapy treatment?
- Planning and goal setting for therapy is performed in conjunction with the caregiver's input
- Use of therapeutic activities and games to work on desired skills (for example a child who needs to work on his/her upper body strength may be given therapy putty games to work on grip strength or engage with the therapist in a tug of war game to work on shoulder stability)
- Modifications to a child's environment may be helpful (lighting, adaptive equipment, etc.)
- Use of exercises and engaging games to work on the desired skills needed for functioning
- Suggestions for home programming or ideas for educators may be provided
